Privacy Policy

ScanifyAI was built so that your documents never have to leave your device. This policy explains, in plain language, what that means, the small amount of information that is involved when you visit the site, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Files stay on your deviceAll photo and document processing happens locally in the browser – nothing is uploaded to our servers.
No account, no profileYou can use every tool without signing up. We do not ask for your name, phone number or email to use the tools.
Ads are clearly separatedThe site is funded by Google AdSense. Ads never get access to the files you open in a tool.

1. Who we are

ScanifyAI (“ScanifyAI”, “we”, “us”) operates the website scanifyai.com, a collection of free document, PDF and photo tools that run in your web browser. If you have any question about this policy, write to [email protected].

2. Your documents and photos

All photo processing happens locally in the browser – nothing is uploaded to our servers. When you choose a file, take a photo with the camera scanner or drop a document onto a tool, the file is read into your browser’s memory and processed there with JavaScript. This applies to every tool on the site, including the passport photo maker, the document scanner, OCR (text recognition), PDF editing, merging, compressing, converting and password protection.

We never receive, see, store or keep copies of your files, the text inside them or the results you download. Because the files never reach us, we cannot recover a document for you if you close the tab before saving it.

Some tools download helper components the first time you use them, for example the OCR language data, the PDF engine or the AI model that separates a person from the background in the passport photo tool. These downloads contain only program code, language data or model data and come from our own website or from public code delivery networks (jsDelivr and Google’s model storage). Your document or photo is never sent with these requests – the AI model runs on your device.

3. Files you choose to save (My files)

If you press “Save to My files”, a copy of that file is stored in your own browser’s storage (IndexedDB) on your device, together with the folder name and file name you gave it. It stays there until you delete it or clear your browser data. This storage is not synchronised to us or to other devices. Anyone with access to your device and browser profile may be able to open these files, so use the delete option on shared computers.

4. Camera access

The camera scanner asks your browser for permission to use the camera. The live image is analysed on your device to find the page edges, and frames are never streamed or recorded elsewhere. You can withdraw camera permission at any time in your browser’s site settings.

5. Information collected automatically

Like every website, our hosting provider receives standard technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose errors, and is kept only as long as needed for those purposes.

To understand which tools and pages are used, we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies, does not store personal information and does not follow you across other websites; it only counts anonymous page visits, the referring site, country and device type. It never sees your files.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser’s local storage for a few settings that make the site work the way you left it, such as your interface language and your cookie choice. These settings stay on your device.

Advertising partners, described below, may set cookies or use similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad and measure ad performance. When you first visit, a banner lets you choose “Accept all” or “Essential only”. If you choose “Essential only”, we ask Google to show non-personalised ads only. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

7. Advertising (Google AdSense)

ScanifyAI is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.eu. Information about how Google uses data from sites that use its services is available at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ads run separately from the tools. Advertising scripts cannot read the files you open in a tool, because those files are never uploaded and exist only in the memory of the page while you work.

8. Other third-party services

Each of these services processes data under its own privacy policy. None of them receives the documents or photos you process with our tools.

  • Google Fonts: the site’s typefaces are loaded from Google’s font servers, which receive your IP address as part of the request.
  • jsDelivr and Google model storage: deliver the image-segmentation engine and model used by the passport photo tool. They receive your IP address with the download request, not your photo.
  • Google AdSense: serves the ads described above.
  • Hosting provider: delivers the website files to your browser.

9. Children

ScanifyAI is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Emails you send us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, including any attachment. We use this only to reply and to improve the site, and we delete support emails when they are no longer needed. Please do not send identity documents or other sensitive files by email; describe the problem instead, and we will help you reproduce it with a sample file.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

In practice the only personal information we may hold is the content of emails you send us. To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request”. We will reply within 30 days. For advertising data, use Google’s Ads Settings and the opt-out links in section 7. For files in My files, delete them in the tool or clear your browser’s site data.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because your files are processed on your own device, the most important protection is keeping your device and browser up to date. The Protect PDF tool encrypts PDFs with a password you choose; we never see that password and cannot recover it.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on the homepage for a reasonable period.

14. Contact

Questions or requests about privacy: [email protected]. We usually reply within two business days.
